‘Sydney World Record’
17
YEAR OLD GUINNESS WORLD RECORD
FINALLY
BROKEN IN SYDNEY
After having withstood numerous
challenges over 17 years, the World Catwalk record of 133.7 km was
broken by two Sydney students after a marathon fashion event that lasted
over 41 hours at the Sydney Town Hall Square. Suresh
Joachim, a nine times Guinness record holder and Paul Yan, a
Sydney university student in sports science traversed a 16.2 m catwalk
over 8364 times to claim this long-standing record at 6.30 am on
Saturday. The record attempt was made more difficult by recent Guinness
changes that enforced non-stop performance for eight hours before a 15
minute break was permitted. During the distance of over 3 combined
marathons of 135.5km, the Sydney pair also raised awareness and
money for the Children’s Cancer institute Australia.
